SHC Welcome Workshops

SHC Welcome Workshops are held in partnership with the Prince George's County Memorial Library System to introduce valuable community resources to refugees and newcomers and to encourage participants to return to their local library to access technology, check out books, and attend children's programs.
Welcome Workshops are held in person at the New Carrollton Library branch of the Prince George's Memorial Library on Wednesdays while SHC classes are in session. If pandemic restrictions require it, Welcome Workshops will meet on Zoom, or when weather permits, Welcome Workshops meet outdoors at apartment complexes in Prince George's County.
Recent Welcome Workshop presenters have included: Risk Reduction Coordinator from the Prince George's County Fire Department; Prince George's County Sherriff's Department; Prince George's County Schools International Student Enrollment Office; Prince George's County Memorial Library System; Refugee Mental Health Coordinator: Maryland State Department of Health.
