Wellness and Recovery Centers (WRC) provide free and voluntary recovery support services to anyone who walks in the door needing support. No medical diagnosis, referral, or other criteria is required.
About Wellness & Recovery Centers
WRCs in our affiliated network are independent nonprofit organizations, staffed and run by peers who self-identify as having lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use challenges. Peers share mutual understanding and respect for what it is like to experience emotional distress, while honoring that each person has their own unique and intersectional journey, whether that includes trauma, mental illness, substance use, systems involvement, disability, harm reduction, treatment, recovery, etc.
WRCs are funded by the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration and are recognized as part of the continuum of care in the public behavioral health system.
Each WRC offers a blend of supports and services in response to the needs of its members, such as:
One-on-one peer support
Support groups & self-help resources
Social & wellness activities
Self-advocacy & personal empowerment
Support with crisis prevention and diversion
Connection to local mental health/substance use treatment and other health services
Assistance with enrolling in benefit programs (example: Medicaid, SNAP, SSD/I)
Support with applying to educational, employment, and housing opportunities
Access to trainings in wellness, recovery, and peer support concepts and skills
