• The SOR program is designed to ensure that eligible refugees aged 60 years or above receive appropriate services to address the unique needs faced by older clients through programming that is culturally and linguistically sensitive and age appropriate. The program’s primary goal is to increase integration and independent healthy living for older ORR-eligible populations through services such as case management, connecting to mainstream senior programs, citizenship application assistance and exam preparation, and other activities designed to promote well-being and social integration.

  • The University of Maryland's Safe Center for Trafficking survivors employs case managers that speak English and Spanish. They are able to provide services in additional languages free of charge through in-person and telephonic interpreters.

    The Safe Center offers legal, mental health, crisis intervention, and economic empowerment services, as well as a drop-in center where SAFE Center clients may rest, eat a meal, receive tutoring or job search assistance, and participate in group programs. The SAFE Center also offers a food pantry and clothing closet onsite for clients’ urgent needs.

  • The Crisis Center provides free crisis services 24 hours a day/ 365 days a year. Services are provided by telephone (240-777-4000) or in person at 1301 Piccard Drive in Rockville (no appointment needed). Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) provides emergency crisis evaluations for individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis.  Full crisis assessments and treatment referrals are provided for all crises, both psychiatric and situational. In addition, the program has four crisis beds as an alternative to hospitalization for those who are uninsured or are insured within the public mental health system.

  • Central Union Mission is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to serve hurting people throughout the DMV. They serve homeless men, families living in poverty, children from at-risk neighborhoods and the growing Hispanic population in the city.

    Central Union Mission offers an emergency shelter for homeless men, a restoration and transformation program (for men), and a comprehensive family resource center for people struggling with insufficient food and clothing. For more information, click HERE!

RESOURCES FOR VULNERABLE POPULATIONS

  • Through supplemental funding authorized by the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022 (AUSAA), MORA partners provide resettlement assistance and other refugee benefits to eligible Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian individuals in response to their displacement from Ukraine and entry/parole into the United States. USAP ensures that eligible families receive the support they need to transition to life in the U.S. while they seek temporary safe haven, including through the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program. This may include case management, community outreach/orientation to clients and their families and/or sponsors, short-term food and housing assistance, immigration-related legal assistance, and any others that fill gaps in client needs. In collaboration with sponsors, USAP ensures all eligible families receive meaningful and intentional programming and services to effectively achieve self-sufficiency.

  • To increase access to drug prevention, treatment, and recovery support services in the Caroline County, the nonprofit Rebirth and their community partners have collaborated to provide Peer Support (one on one & group setting) to connect people struggling with use and addiction with real help that is available 7 days a week. The employ English, Creole, and Spanish speaking peer support specialists and community health workers.

    They offer free transportation to individuals who cannot find their way to appointments, recovery meetings, and treatment centers all throughout Caroline County.

  • The Dyer Care Center (DCC) is the first-ever facility in Prince George’s County, MD, to provide short-term personalized emergency crisis services to adults experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis. With this 23-hour outpatient facility, community members will have access to vital services at any time, regardless of their ability to pay.
