Settling into an environment as a newcomer can be extremely overwhelming. Language barriers, unfamiliar bureaucracies, and scattered information are some of the reasons that make navigating vital services challenging. Newcomers are often left feeling isolated from their communities and confused on how to access essential support.

This initiative was made available with the support of the Maryland Office for Refugees and Asylees. We came together to provide volunteers working alongside newcomers with a space to gather regularly to learn about active groups working in MD, to receive information on available programs and services, network, discuss urgent concerns, share their community flyers, and more.

It's the MDNSC’s mission to connect newcomers across MD with essential resources, programs, and welcoming communities by connecting and supporting the hardworking volunteers assisting with their resettlement joruney! Scroll down to read more about how we plan to accomplish this.
